Magic Online Weekly Announcements for January 9th, 2024

  • The MOCS Season 3 Showcase will be streamed live on Saturday. You can find all the details, including who is qualified, how the qualified, where to watch, and who’s going to be on commentary in the article I wrote on Monday!
  • Ravnica Remastered (RVR) will be on MTGO starting on Wednesday, January 17th. As a reminder this set is not coming to Arena, so MTGO will be the only place online to play RVR.
    • Pricing for RVR, both in terms of per pack and per draft, will be the same as a Standard set.
    • There will be both Draft league and single-elimination Draft queues, which go live after the downtime on Wednesday and run until Murders at Karlov Manor (MKM) events start on February 6, 2024 6:00 pm UTC.
    • Sealed events will be using RVR instead of Lost Caverns of Ixalan (LCI), although Constructed Challenge and Premier events will still use LCI pack rewards.
    • The Limited Super Qualifier on Sunday, January 28th and the Limited Qualifier on February 2nd will be using the RVR format.
    • Treasure Chest contents will contain RVR cards, including retro-frame and Anime Borderless cards after the downtime on Wednesday.
    • Any rarity downshifts will apply once the downtime is completed.
  • Retro Shockland Bundles will go on sale on Wednesday, January 17th after the downtime.
    • There will be two bundles, one for the Allied Guilds and one for the Enemy Guilds, and they will contain one copy of each of the five Guilds for $39.99
    • These art treatments will not appear in Treasure Chests nor be included in any All-Access period.
  • There are two Modern Qualifiers coming up in the next few days.
    • January 14, 2024 9:05 am UTC
    • January 15, 2024 3:05 pm UTC
  • The AlphaFrog Invitational returns on January 16th, with additional details to follow next Tuesday.
  • Vintage Cube 64-player elimination drafts continue to be widely available throughout the day, although there has been some adjustment to the price structure to reduce the number of Treasure Chests and increase the number of Play Points.
  • Vintage Cube will continue to be offered until January 24th, but will return with a small update in late February.
