Arena Announcements for March 25th, 2024

  • Outlaws of Thunder Junction (OTJ) preorders start tomorrow, right after the OTJ Debut Stream. Most of the actual cards contained in these bundles have not been officially revealed yet.
    • The Oko Pack Bundle will cost US$49.99 and will get you an Oko sleeve when you preorder it. Once it unlocks on April 16th you will get:
      • 50x OTJ packs
      • 5x Golden packs
      • Oko, the Ringleader depth art card style
      • 1x Oko, the Ringleader card
    • The Vraska Play Bundle will cost US$24.99 and will get you a Tinybones companion and a Vraska sleeve when you preorder it. Once it unlocks on April 16th you will get:
      • 2x Player Draft tokens
      • 1x Sealed token
      • 5x Play-In Points
      • Vraska depth art card style
      • 1x Vraska card
    • The Kellen Pass Bundle will cost $14.99 and will get you a Kellan sleeve when you preorder it. Once it unlocks on April 16th you will get:
      • The OTJ Mastery Pass
      • Kellan depth art card style
      • 1x Kellan card.
  • The OTJ Mastery Pass details have also been revealed. You can find the full details here, but a few interesting notes:
    • The OTJ Mastery Pass is considerably longer than previous iterations, at 110 levels. For context, the Murders at Karlov Manor (MKM) Mastery pass was only 70 levels. This is because, “…we want to try something new for our first ever Modern Horizons set on MTG Arena. Stay tuned for more details!”
    • Part of the Mastery Pass will be 4x of each of the Commander face cards. These cards will only be legal in Brawl and, I believe, Timeless.
    • The companions for this Mastery Pass will be a Common Horse, an Uncommon Horse, and a Rare Horse. This will likely make Ben Wheeler happy.
    • There are 10 new emotes that you can earn on the Mastery Pass.
    • The article also mentions something called “Heist Quests”, which could be a new type of daily quest.
  • The OTJ Debut Stream is tomorrow, which will officially kick off OTJ Preview Season.
    • It looks like most of the main set previews will be happening this week, with the Breaking News bonus sheet cards being previewed on April 1st and the Big Score cards being previewed on April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
    • Commons from the set will be showing up in the Official Card Image Gallery throughout Preview Season. These are likely to show up when the Gallery is updated every day, so make sure to keep an eye out for them.
  • Arena Championship 5 is happening this weekend.
    • The formats will be MKM Draft followed by Explorer Constructed.
    • Full details on how to watch can be found in the official Viewer’s Guide.
  • There were big changes announced for Arena Premier play last week. You can find full details, including a complete recap of the Q&A portion of the show, in the article I wrote last week.
