General Info

  • There are 81 total Commons in this set, the same as in MKM
  • There are 100 total Uncommons in this set, the same as in MKM
  • There are 60 total Rares, the same as in MKM
  • There are 20 total Mythic Rares, the same as in MKM
  • While there are Rare Dual Lands in this set, they do not appear at a different frequency than other Rares in the set. In MKM, the Rare Dual Lands never appeared in the normal Rare slot, but appeared at a higher frequency in the Non-Foil Wildcard rarity slot.
  • Cards from the main set will be marked as OTJ in the breakdown below.
  • This set has a Bonus Sheet, called Breaking News (OTP), with 1 card appearing in every pack. These cards are all reprints and will retain their current legality. If they are not currently on Arena, their Historic and Timeless legality is TBD. Every OTP card will trigger the “Committing a Crime” mechanic.

  • This set has 10 Special Guest (SPG) cards that will appear in a small amount of Play Boosters. See the Slot Breakdown below. These cards are all reprints and will retain their current legality. If they are not currently on Arena, their Historic and Timeless legality is TBD.
  • This set has 30 Big Score (BIG) cards that will appear in some Play Boosters. See the Slot Breakdown below for full details. While some of these cards will be reprints, they will all be Standard legal cards.
    • All of the BIG cards are listed at Mythic Rare rarity.
  • Unlike MKM, there are no Common/Uncommon/Rare/Mythic cards on The List for this set. These have been replaced by the BIG cards. This means that this set will match in Arena, MTGO, and in Paper 100%.

Slot Breakdown

  • Slots 1 – 5: Always an OTJ Common.
  • Slot 6: An OTJ Common 80% of the time. 20% of the time (1 in 5 packs, or ~5 per 8 person draft) this will be either a BIG or SPG card.
    • 18.46% of the time this will be a BIG card.
    • 1.54% of the time this will be a SPG card.
      • Arena Note: An Arena Developer confirmed for me that the Arena Annoucement article from April 1st saying there will be a difference between the drop rate of BIG and SPG cards was a mistake, and the above breakdown is correct for both Arena Limited Boosters and Play Boosters. An update to the article should be forthcoming.
  • Slot 7 – 9: Always an OTJ Uncommon.
  • Slot 10: Always an OTJ Rare or Mythic Rare.
    • 2.5% of the time this will be an OTJ Booster Fun Rare or Mythic Rare.
  • Slot 11: Always a non-foil card, but can be an OTJ card of any rarity.
    • An OTJ Rare or Mythic Rare will appear in this slot ~8.33% of the time.
  • Slot 12: Always a foil card, but can be a card of any rarity.
    • This can include Booster Fun cards, and also may include OTP cards, but will never include BIG or SPG cards.
  • Slot 13: Always an OTP card that can be Uncommon, Rare, or Mythic Rare.
    • This will be a Rare or Mythic Rare OTP card ~33.33% of the time.
  • Slot 14: Always an OTJ Land card.
    • ~50% of the time this will be a Common Dual land.
    • ~16.67% of the time this will be a Western Landscape Basic Land
    • ~33.33% of the time this will be a regular Basic Land
  • Slot 15: A token/art card/ad
    • 65% of the time this will be a token/ad card
    • 30% of the time this will be an art card
    • 5% of the time this will be an art card with the artist’s signature or a Planeswalker symbol.
