Arena And MTGO Outlaws Of Thunder Junction Bug List

  • Since OTJ went live earlier today, both MTGO and Arena seem to have a few bugs worth knowing about before you dive into the new set. Every bug I’m about to list is known to the devs of their respective platform and are actively being worked on unless I say otherwise. I will update this article as bugs are fixed, or if new bugs appear, so please make sure to check back periodically.
  • Arena
    • There is a visual bug preventing your rank from showing up during Premier Drafts. This is similar to the same bug that has been present for Quick Drafts, and you can be assured that the drafts *are* still ranked. They just aren’t displaying correcting during or after matches. The rank listed under your profile should update as normal.
      • Update: This has been fixed as of the patch on 4-24-24
    • There is also a bug preventing players from correctly being able to see their sideboards while deckbuilding. Your sideboard will say you have an amount of cards in your sideboard, but you’ll only be able to see a small number of them.
      • Update: This has been fixed as of the patch on 4-24-24
    • Unconfirmed by a Dev: I’ve now seen two separate reports from people who have opened 50+ store packs of OTJ and have received 0 Big Score cards. It’s possible there is an issue with the drop rate of BIG cards in store packs.
      • Update: This appears to have been a misunderstanding of the drop rate in Arena Store Packs. A BIG card should replace a Mythic 1 out of 5 times, which places the drop rate of BIG cards in Arena Store Packs ~2%. So while it’s possible to get BIG cards from Arena Store Packs, you shouldn’t count on it.
    • Unconfirmed by a Dev: I’ve now seen multiple reports that 40 card direct challenges are not able to connect. At the time of this writing it seems limited to the 40 Card challenges.
      • Update: I’m not crossing this one off yet, but I was able to get a 40 card direct challenge to go through as a normal challenge, a friend list challenge, and a Limited Tournament challenge. This one may just be an isolated issue.
      • Update: I have yet to be able to reproduce this, and I haven’t seen any new reports of it since yesterday so I’m crossing it off.
    • There seems to be a error preventing Quick Drafts, Jump-In, and Starter Deck Duels from connecting to an opponent. It seems as if this is only a problem if you started the event prior to the OTJ update and are now trying to play the games. I have seen quite a few reports of this one, so even though I don’t have Dev confirmation I’m pretty confident this one is real. At least one person has submitted a ticket for this bug, however.
      • Per the official Magic Discord, this should now be fixed.
  • MTGO
    • There is an issue that is showing cards as illegal in Standard that should not be rotating out of the format until the release of Bloomburrow later this year.
      • This issue has been resolved.
    • There is an issue that is causing effects that require you to commit a crime to trigger when your opponent targets your things, and vice versa.
      • Update: This appears to only be happening with ETB or other triggered abilities.
      • Update 2: They appear to have tracked down the reason for this issue and are working to solve it now. A Dev in the Discord confirmed that this is in line for a hotfix and they expect that to happen sometime today.
      • Update 3: Some of this has been cleared up, and a hotfix is expected a little later today to resolve the remainder of the problem.
      • Update 4: There will be a patch going live shortly that will fix issues with The Initiative and a couple of other issues. OTJ Single Elimination Queues will remain down for another day while they continue to investigate the Crime bug.
      • Update 5: A patch is being deployed and the OTJ Single Elimination queues will return shortly.
