Blake Rasmussen announced today on the Weekly MTG stream that there will not be an emergency B&R announcement ahead of the regularly scheduled August 26th B&R date. This comes in the wake of dominant win rate and meta shares for Nadu, Winged Wisdom decks at PT: MH3. There has also been a lot of clamor for action to be taken with Grief in Legacy after “No Action” was announced, despite the recommendation of the “Legacy expert” on the B&R team.
Blake said that the main reason they don’t want to take an action at this time is because they don’t want to return to the days of surprise B&R announcements, which discourage players from being confident in their deck choices as well as testing.
They also understand that an announcement happening in the middle of RCQ season is less than desirable, even if the actions likely to be taken are easy to see coming. With that in mind they’re going to reassess the timing of the regularly scheduled announcements going forward, although nothing will be changing at this time.
It was also announced that there will be rebalances coming to the RW Energy deck in Historic. He did not have any specifics on what would be changed at this time, however these changes will take place on August 6th. Further information on what will be changed should be coming in the near future. Blake did not say this, but I would look for this information in next week’s Arena Announcement article.
