For the first time since September of 2022 we have new bans in Commander.
The following cards have been banned in Commander by the Commander Rules Committee (CR), effective September 23, 2024:
Dockside Extortionist
Jeweled Lotus
Mana Crypt
Nadu, Winged Wisdom.
The CR specifically called out Sol Ring as a card that will not be banned, as it is, “…the iconic card of the format…”. They go on to say that “Banning Sol Ring would fundamentally [change] the identity of the format.”
As a part of this update, the CR also says they’re working with Wizards to provide new tools for pregame conversations, as well as better ways to communicate the subject of having silver-boarder cards in your deck.
The next CR update should come on November 18th, 2024. Right after the release of Foundations.
