- In an effort to give players more ways to acquire “mechanically unique” cards that are introduced in Secret Lair drops, WotC announced today that they will be running a test program that will allow these cards to be sold at participating WPN stores.
- This test only includes non-foil versions of these mechanically unique cards.
- No details were given on when we can expect to see a Secret Lair with cards that will be part of this test, however in the announcement Blake Rasumssen said that the test will go into effect the next time a Secret Lair has mechanically unique cards, which signals to me we likely won’t have to wait long.
- According to the WPN site, stores that are part of the program will purchase these cards from their distributor either right before or around the same time the Secret Lair drop goes live on the Secret Lair website for consumers. The LGS will then sell the non-foil Drop in question “a few weeks later”.
- In related news, the WPN Website also released an article today announcing the “Magic Presents: Spring Flourishes” event that will run at participating LGS from April 25 through May 25. This event will be a special draft with “…fun twists to the gameplay for players of all stripes to enjoy.” No additional details on the mechanics were revealed at this time.
- Every time a player enters one of these special drafts they will receive one of the 7 in-universe printings of the mechanically unique D&D: Honor Among Thieves Secret Lair cards.
